The Redskins played eight men in the box to stop the run and made Giants QB Eli Manning beat them.
Manning completed 21-of-34 passes for 305 yards and a touchdown.
Manning hit WR Amani Toomer with a 40-yard pass for a touchdown on the first Giants drive.
“Everyone was wondering how we were going to play under those circumstances, with the rain and et cetera,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. “That was a quick answer for us.”
Said Toomer, “You want us to throw, we can throw. You want us to run, we can run.”
Although they were playing at home, the Redskins didn’t get any boost from the crowd at FedEx Field.
Redskins RB Clinton Portis was held to 22 yards on 11 carries.
Portis carried a flag with the number 21 onto the field as part of the ceremony honoring late Redskins S Sean Taylor.
Despite heavy news coverage all weekend, FOX broadcasters didn’t mention the word “gunshot” until less than five minutes remained in the third quarter.
Rookie Redskins WR Devin Thomas scored his first NFL touchdown on a 28-yard reverse.

I happened to be at that game yesterday, I guess the redskins fans get more hype for the cowgirls but where were they yesterday? I guess it’s rough when you get punched in the face on the first drive to set the tone. That’s when reality sets in. Why do people keep picking other teams? Saying with this rough schedule the giants will lose 3 of their next five, etc…They are beasts, strahan, osi, plax..They dont stop. The redskins didn’t move me at all yesterday and if they were supposed to be inspired by taylor, it didnt work. They can have their 16 “pro bowlers” make the playoffs first. I loved all the redskins fans talking shit to me yesterday how bad eli is when he threw all over you guys and how the championship was last yr..we’re 11-1 if you want to talk about this yr

The Redskins are a textbook example of mediocrity. In order to keep up with the Jonses in this league, a team MUST to two things:
1.) Protect the Quarterback
2.) Effectively rush the passer
The Redskins can no neither. Every time a legit team pops up on the schedule (e.g., Pittsburgh, NYG), the Skins get trounced. They’ll stumble next week at Baltimore and limp to a 9-7 finish.

yup, that’s what the redskins fans were all talking about on their walk back to the cars, i kept hearing “9-7″ SI picked the giants to lose yesterday. I feel like these analysts and writers don’t watch games. They just talk. Granted the giants had to settle for 3 fg’s rather than td’s but that game was so lopsided..Youre right, that hands to the face was BS, and webster jumped that route. it should have been a shutout. Opposing QB’s and defensive scouts, coaching staffs all recognize webster as a shut down corner, when are analysts etc going to give him credit instead of saying “it took a while but hes making plays” that dude is so shutdown, no one even throws his way, hes been so nasty this yr

As a Skins fan its hard to say the outcome should of been different. The Giants are a very good team and the score shouldn’t have been that close.
The Curse of John Kent Cooke is alive and well.

We got pounded yesterday…I’ll take 9-7 for a first year coach. Our offense has a long way to go. Hail!

As a Giants fan, I hate to give the Redskins any credit, but it was pretty clear to me that Portis should not have been playing. He started the game hurt and then, after the shot he got from Thomas in the 2nd quarter, he should have been pulled. There’s a difference between toughing out your injuries and being so hurt you are no longer useful. Portis showed he was a real man going out there and doing all he could. The Skins coaches showed they grossly misjudged how effective a guy that hurt can be and that they have no faith in Portis’ backup.

I’m gonna hafta disagree here. Everyone loses to the Giants, class of the league clearly. The skin’s played the Steelers at the worst time possible too, just as they were getting hot.
Do I think they are a Super Bowl team? No, but they do a lot of things that impress me and I think Zorn is just great.
(Steelers fan btw)
