With the Detroit Lions licking their wounds after a 47-10 loss at home to the Titans, we’re hearing that there’s a feeling among some of the players involved in the game that the Titans called off the dogs very early and that, if they hadn’t, the Titans could have scored 100 or more points.
The disparity might have something to do with the Titans being really good. And it might have something to do with the Lions being really bad. Or both.
We’ll find out more about the Lions next Sunday, when they get a crack at the Vikings in Ford Field.

LOL! Now that would’ve been entertaining! Really though, I doubt they would’ve gotten over 100 points. Maybe between 70-80 points.

Bit of a slow newsday? For such a crappy team you sure give the Lions plenty of space on this page. Are they really worth talking about this much?

Anticipate a tighter game w Vikes, if there is any pride left in the team. Also Vikes could overlook them & be overconfident after yesterdays “debacle” to quote Emmitt.

I suspect that there are a few college teams that could hang a 100 points on Detroit. Hell, I think there are some Arena Football teams could kick Detroit’s ass and they don’t play defense at all. But, then again, neither does Detroit, so it’s a fair match up.

just a note here. the colts beat detroit 41-9 on thanksgiving day 2004. manning had six touchdown passes (three to harrison, three to stokley)and didn’t play in the fourth quarter. talk about a team that could have scored 100.

ppolimeno, what the hell are you babbling about? The Titans scored 12 in the second half. You and your ilk really need to get over yourselves. And it would be over the top if anyone really sniffed 100 points with their starters, even on the Lions in the third quarter.

Twice today already Florio? What a joy! You have twice implied the Vikings will lose next Sunday. Let’s see if he can go for three…
Now moving back to subject. No way the Titans could have put up 100. Maybe 61, but a 100? No way. It’s not like the Lions were letting a touchdown in every other play. Detroit has a great chance at 0-16. However, Detroit should get a win. It will not be again Minnesota. If Minnesota wins this Sunday, no way we will let our momentum slipped. We will beat Detroit.

If they ran the 2:00 offense for most of the game, then easily 100.

Fisher was just getting some challenge practice in case he had to use a challenge in a real game.
I think the titans could have hit 70. 70-10.
Easily each 2nd half fg could have been a td (63).

If you call CJ getting 4 touches in the 2nd half calling off the dogs, then I suppose the Titans did. Otherwise, the Titans just did what they do in the 2nd half then they have a lead which is pound the ball and let the clock run, and let the defense do the rest. It’s Fisherball at it’s finest.

they lost by 5.5 points a game with him. they lost by 21 points game with quitna. pullpecker was a slight improvement over quitna but now he is losing by 22 points a game.
each lions starter has had 4 games. and orlovsky’s contract is up so he isnt coming back.

I remember that. It was 2001. Not only did the Vikings lose to the winless Panthers that year, they also lost to the winless Lions. In fact, they nearly lost to two 1-15 teams. Detroit pulled out another win in week 17 against a crappy Quincy Carter led Dallas team that prevented it from happening. But still, it’s just terrible to lose to a 1-15 team and a 2-14 team in the same season.

Actually had this been the patriots playing we would never have seen the BACKUP quarterback (witness last years brady TD record)and Brady would have thrown for 3 more scores in the last 7 minutes of the game.
Then the former Giant fans - that currently refer to themselves as patriot fans - would all moan and grown about patriot haters - which, silly enough, they seem to be doing now.
Clearly the Titans could have put up at least another 21 but were professional about it. Is it just me or do patriot fans remind you of the 40 year old landscaping guy that mows your lawn?

The Titans very well may have been able to put up 100 yesterday, the Lions looked pathetic. Just because they theoretically could have doesn’t mean they would have or should have. We can talk could have all day long but it doesn’t really matter since they didn’t.
As for the Vikings loosing to the Lions, there is a very real possibility that they may. I’d love to be able to say no way not possible but the Vikings never pass up on an opportunity to disappoint their fans. The Lions have 10 days to get ready and I’m sure they’ll try hard so they can save some face.

I am a huge Lions fan (I got hooked when they had Barry Sanders) and I am going to tell you the truth, not bs.
The Titans let up on us so easy that I think Jeff Fisher must have told his team at halftime to not embarrass us. Seriously, when was the last time a team had a QB go for 127 yards and no touchdowns, and won by 37. The Lions are GARBAGE.
To conclude, the game was OVER with 8 minutes left in the 1st quarter. We were missing 3 of our offensive lineman (and unfortunately none of them were jeff backus). We were 0-11 on 3rd down!!!! They had TWO running backs go for 100 yds rushing and 2 tds!! They felt comfortable enough to put Vince Young in the lineup. They excel running the ball, and we have the worst run defense against in the NFL. If there were some kind of incentive, the Titans could have easily made it to one hundred points.
