Sooner or later, running back Najeh Davenport will see that the Steelers are calling him, and he just won’t answer the phone.
For at least the third time this year, the Steelers have cut Davenport.
Most recently, they gave him something to be thankful for on Thursday, bringing him back to the team for the Week Thirteen game against the Patriots.
A day after he was declared inactive for the contest, he was dumped in favor of first-year defensive tackle Scott Paxson.
The team announced the moves earlier this afternoon. The only good news for Davenport is that he got a game check for his trouble, which is one more game check than he would have gotten if the team hadn’t called him last week.

I’d take roughly 40,000 for standing on the sidelines…although it did seem pretty cold in foxborough.

Not sure what the vetern minimum 1 week game check would be but I’m sure it’s not a bad weeks work if you can get it. Especially for standing on the sidelines in street clothes.

I still don’t understand why this guy can’t catch on somewhere. if you look at his career numbers he has obviously produced when given the opportunities? maybe the UFL will be this guys calling.

I guess it would have been below your journalistic integrity to use the headline “Steelers Dump Dookie.” Too easy…

Don’t worry about Najeh, he’s a floater, we just can’t flush him. He will be back.

If he didn’t want to play, or could play for another team, then he would… As it is, he get another game check for simply showing up.

I agree that someone should give him a chance. With Jamal Lewis slowing down in Cleveland, I would love to see what he can do behind a good O-Line (well other than Shaffer, who sucks). He’s earned a shot somewhere.

What can you say? The Steelers have always been on a high-fiber diet.
