STRAHAN WASN’T PAID FOR HIS THURSDAY NIGHT CAMEO

Posted by Mike Florio on 9/5/08, 9:03 p.m.

The Newark Star-Ledger reports that former Giants defensive end Michael Strahan received $75,000 for his brief appearance prior to Thursday night’s game against the Redskins.

A source with knowledge of the situation, however, tells us that the report is simply incorrect.

Strahan, we’re told, received not a dime for his appearance.  He actually lost money because he canceled a separate appearance for which he would have been paid in order to show up at Giants Stadium.

Mike seems to be spending an awful lot of time at Giants Stadium for a guy that’s retired. I don’t mind it and I’m sure the Mara family has told him he’s always welcome, but I can’t help but feel that maybe he’s having second thoughts. I have never seen any other Giant great show up so frequently after they retired. Maybe he’s not done.

    East96st:

If he wasn’t done, he wouldn’t have stayed retired when they asked him to come back last week.

Thats refreshing to hear, shows that in the end winning the Superbowl was and is more important to him then money. Which is rare in football and sports today.

icase81 - know of any other retired player that was at the home preseason game and the home opener when his new job was on the other coast? Gotta think he’s having second thoughts. Does that mean he’ll act on it? No. But it does seem he might be reconsidering all his options. He wouldn’t be the first guy that was “sure” that he was done playing and then started to really miss it when the season started up again.

maybe they did pay him 75k, but they used his fee to pay for
    a PSL License.
