The New England Patriots have announced that a whopping eight members of the team will be captains this season.
Three on offense, four on defense, one on specials teams.
On offense, the captains are quarterback Tom Brady, receiver Randy Moss, and tackle Matt Light. On defense, the four “C”-wearing players are linebacker Tedy Bruschi, linebacker Mike Vrabel, safety Rodney Harrison, and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork.
Larry Izzo is the special-teams captain.
It perhaps would have been easier for the Patriots to simply name the players who won’t be captains.

Am I the only one who thinks that the Patriots defense is going to take a big step backwards this year? They seem really old at some positions and and missing a top flight or at least unproven talent in the secondary.

No, I still think that it is easier for the Patriots to name the captains instead of naming people who arent captains. You see, Florio, if you do the math it works out like this:
53 - 8 = 45
And 45 is more than 8.

This may be piling on but its warranted. “pats suck” has to be the lamest poster on this site. I don’t know your team affiliation but I’m guessing Steelers, as their fans seem to be the most vindictive and bitter that I’ve come across on this site and others. Its no wonder the “esteemed” Senator Specter represents PA. Your unsubstantiated bs makes you classless and pathetic in my eyes and just comes across as sour grapes. Back to the subject at hand, I also thought it was humorous that the Pats named so many captains this year but I assume its so they always have coverage on the field no matter what “team” is on the field.
