HURRICANE IKE MIGHT FORCE DOLPHINS TO RELOCATE

Posted by Tom Mantzouranis on 9/5/08, 7:28 p.m.

The Saints might not be the only team forced to relocate temporarily because of a hurricane.

While they return to New Orleans today after Hurricane Gustav forced them to spend the last week practicing in Indianapolis, the Dolphins are making plans in case Hurricane Ike forces them out of Miami.

Specifically, they’re looking to the Alamodome in San Antonio to practice, where the Saints called home following Hurricane Katrina.

The team will likely make a decision on Sunday or Monday, when more information on Ike’s path is available. If they decide to move, it will be soon after that, as the storm is currently expected to touch down in the middle of next week. If a move were to occur, though, it would likely just be for practices, as the Dolphins play Weeks Two and Three on the road, followed by a bye before they return home.

Here’s to hoping that won’t be necessary.

That stinks I was hope they don’t have to play
    every game away.
    even the Saints didn’t deserve
    not to play home games.

Stupid weather seems to be interfering
    every season. :(

why would Miami return to NOLA today? Should this be about the Saints? Miami just worked out Chad Jackson at their facility, and Gustav didnt hit South FLA?

They might not want to go to San Antonio. Those bunch of vultures tried openly to steal the Saints from an ailing New Orleans after Katrina. Thanks to St. Tagliabue, the Saints are home and have a sold out stadium and a 30,000+ wait list for season tickets. San Antonio did a lot of good things after Katrina, but for how they tried to take the Saints when New Orleans was on its knees, screw em.

Miami, don’t let it happen to you.

OK Florio - where’s the pontificating about how maybe there shouldn’t be an NFL franchise in Miami because of all of these “Hurricane Evacuations”? Miami is every bit as vulnerable as New Orleans (IE: Hurricane Andrew) yet there is no rally cry for pulling the NFL out of South Fla. This is an honest question that I hope you address, why the bias against having the Saints in New Orleans? You’re a Cali Boy right? Would you rather se them in LALA Land? Seriously fess up and come clean with your agenda!

The issue wouldn’t be an issue if Tom Benson weren’t trying so hard to get out of there, would it? San Antonio didn’t try to steal them as much as Benson tried to move them to the beautiful, prosperous, and very safe (compared to N.O. anyway) city of San Antonio. Former Saints VP Arnold Fielkow said that Benson had been looking for an exit opportunity since before Katrina. There’s your opportunist. Yeah, same guy that leverages upward of $15 million a year from the state just because he thinks his revenue should be in the top quarter of the league every year. Jeez, take a hint already. Benson wants out as fast as he can get out, and he wants to take his team with him.

Yeah, we did a lot of good after Katrina. Fed you, opened our homes to your families, opened our schools to your kids… now you’re gonna get mad because you caught your girlfriend making eyes at us? Tell you what, Geaux… next time you guys are up to your gables in gators, just stay there and tread water because you blame the wrong people for your troubles and you’re an ingrate. Screw YOU, buddy! Naw, strike that. Can’t be like that. Come on down next time you need help. Leave your ugly-ass girlfriend Tom Benson and the New Orleans Saints at home though.

you are obviously too young to remember the devastation caused by Andrew so I’ll excuse your ignorance and give you a pass on this one…carry on.
