I’ve been hinting at this for a while, to the dismay of the black-and-gold faithful. And I’ve finally laid it all out there for SportingNew.com.
I fear that the Steelers could struggle this year.
Here’s the article. I suspect I’ll be hearing from a few of you.

I am under no illusions that the Steelers are a dominant team in the AFC, but I don’t agree with your assessment that they are bound to fall from Playoff Contention. All four teams in the AFC North play generally the same schedule, and I don’t foresee much of a difference in the hierarchy of the Division. Discounting Cincinatti and Baltimore, Cleveland seems to be the only real challenger. The Browns only play 2 different teams than the Steelers, the Bills and the Broncos. Both of those teams seem to be on the rise in their respective Divisions.
The Browns also have a very young team, similar to the upstart Bengals from a few years ago. It will be interesting to see if they can handle the pressure a playoff run and 6 Prime time games will bring. I’m thinking they will struggle.

aren’t there many more reasons that many other teams might fail. at least the steelers have proven they can win meaningful games unlike the browns who may have a younger defense but hands down a worse defense than the steelers.

Well so much for the whole “Florio loves the Steelers” crowd of fools.
Read it twice, you knuckleheads. Then try and whine about all the Steeler favoritism.

Your basic argument is the same tired “Well, they lost Faneca” crap we have heard over and over again.
Faneca was/is good. But he wanted to be gone, and he was causing problems with the players/coaches. His loss is not going to sink the Steelers.
People thought letting Joey Porter go was a mistake too. That seemed to work out OK.

i am gonna love me some steelers fans this year.
this is what i have been saying all along, throw in that willie parker is not an every down back and never will be and i think it’s going to be a long season for arm-pit-tsburg.
seriously though they might win the afc north still but with an 8-8 or so record even steelers loyalists won’t be able to convince themselves they have a chance in the playoffs. (if they get there at all)

Yeah, Parker isn’t an every-down back, he only lead the league in rushing for 14 weeks before he cracked his leg. Clearly, those are numbers of a guy who only plays sparingly.
If Parker isn’t an every-down back neither is Tomlinson.

I was so disgusted with you Florio that I registered. However, after much thought I decided I’m not going to write anything with substance or intellect because some dildo(see above response)will read it and write “Steelers Suck”as a response. I mean anyone that writes let alone speaks “i am gonna love me some steelers fans this year.(insert redneck/retard chuckle here)” really doesn’t deserve to be taken seriously or anything they write considered a rational thought or observation.

I smell Superbowl .. Im tired of hearing this shit . Like the man from the Miami Dolphins Mercury Morris said . Dont call me when they are on my street , call me when they are on my block … When the Steelers clinch a losing record or are eliminated from playoff contention then you may say it . Until then please SHUT THE F UP . Opinions are like assholes everyone has one . I say the steelers go 12-4 and win the Superbowl over the Cowboys, Panthers, Giants or whoever . I will put my money where my mouth is ……..

The Steelers might finish with a 6-10 record…
and win the pitiful AFC North by 2 games.

there obviously higher than number 12 on your power rankings so how are they going to do so bad this year? The schedule is overrated, losing Fanaca is overrated, and calling the defense old is a desperate insult. Dont write that the steeelers are gonna suck then turn around and cheer for the browns until we sweep you for a 9th consecutive season. Florio u should write these types of articles for every team from 12-32 so far in the power rankings, you obviously believe they are worse than the steelers

I hope you’ll write an article about how stoopid you are at the end of the season, Florio. The Steelers will go 10-6 and win the division.

Last year’s schedule means nothing this year. The Steelers will win the division by 2 games. They are the only complete team in the division.
The only (in)action the Steelers front office can be faulted for is only having 2 of the 5 offensive tackles on the roster signed for next year. The lack of an extension for M. Smith, M. Starks or T. Essex will hurt them next year. The Steelers will either overpay to keep one of them next year, accept the one who can’t get an over-market-deal next off season or hope Hills develops rapidly. Whether this is tied to ownership issues is speculation, but he fact they only extended one contract this offseason makes me suspicious.

Florio hates Ben - loves Faneca - and has mixed feelings about the Steelers which are now showing…
This is not unusual for West VBeirginians - they are looked down on by those of us from the Burgh - for good reason - they have way too few last names in that state. They could be Redskins fans - but that is a long way off and a bit sad - because the Redskins will be lucky to win 4 games this year.
Steelers win their division - might even get to 11 wins…

This old internet hack sure went out on a limb with his marble rye to devote a whole article saying the team with THE hardest schedule may not have such and easy time of it this year…..
We the Steeler faithfull disagree.
