The Colts lost their 14th preseason game in 16 tries in overtime against the Panthers, 23-20.
WR Marvin Harrison has finally made it back to the field; he participated in 15 plays and had three catches for 22 yards.
“He looked like he could pretty much do whatever he wanted on whoever was out there covering him,” QB Jim Sorgi said of Harrison.
Harrison said nothing at all of his performance; he bolted the locker room before the media entered, and he wasn’t made available for comment.
Coach Tony Dungy wasn’t happy with the efforts of the starters: “Our first group, on either side of the ball, wasn’t really sharp and that was disappointing.”
QB Jim Sorgi coughed up the ball on successive plays in the first quarter.
The Colts had re-signed K Adam Crossett and cut RB Clifton Dawson; Crossett made a 34-yard field goal against the Panthers.
QB Jared Lorenzen was 12-for-23 for 117 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions; he also ran for 24 yards, which arguably is the most he’s ever run in his life when a box of Ho-Hos wasn’t at the point of destination.
In contrast, Quinn Gray threw two interceptions and no touchdowns.
TE Jacob Tamme, a 2008 fourth-round pick, hauled in both of Lorenzen’s touchdown passes.

Yet another Colts draft pick (Tamme) showing signs of immediate success? Why am I not surprised?

I actually prefer Twinkies to Ho-Hos. They keep me light on my feet.

Great! Florio has just given the “blue print” for beating the Colts: 1. Pray that Manning’s rehab does not progress as planned and Lorenzen is inserted as starting QB. 2. Place box of Ho Ho 20 yards behind him and wait for the sacks to happen
Polian is not going to be happy about this breach of info.

Gotta love the Hefty Lefty. Affection for Ho Ho’s apparently does not interfere with his skills.

It was good to see Marvin again, but he looked slow. Or maybe he was just matching the pace of the O-line.
