In March the Pittsburgh Steelers terminated the contract of receiver Cedrick Wilson less than a day after he was arrested for punching his former girlfriend.
Wilson hasn’t been able to get a job with an NFL team since then, but he is still in football — he’s now a high school assistant coach. Wilson is the offensive coordinator at Douglass High School in Memphis, working for his own former high school coach.
“I would love to [be] back in the NFL,” Wilson told a local TV station. “If that doesn’t happen, I’m fine with coaching here at Douglass High School. Football has been my life, all my life. To be able to be around it [as a coach], I’m still a part of football. It’s my life and I want it to continue to be my life.”
The 29-year-old Wilson is also taking classes at the University of Memphis and says he needs about 15 credit hours to get his degree. He hopes to become a teacher.
Wilson played four seasons for the 49ers and three for the Steelers. Last year he caught 18 passes for 207 yards.

So the NFL won’t hire him because of his violent behavior, but a public school will. Great. I’m sure he’s a great guy to be teaching our future generations.

Wow. Players can’t win can they? He gets released from a team, then goes and gets a job (like a normal person), goes back to school (like a normal person) and is actually exploring a career beyond football, and everyone on here has to kick him when he’s down.
So he punched his girlfriend. That’s a horrible thing to do. But must we kick the man when he’s down when it appears he’s trying to reform from crappy behavior? And we still don’t know if he actually punched her or not, do we? Exactly. Remember the Randy Moss thing right before the Super Bowl?

Hopefully, he’s gotten his life together. If he hasn’t gotten a call by now, he probably won’t get one.

Love all the Cowboy comments on here but you might check out the turd meter and note that Dallas is oh-fer on it since its inception. In fact unless you are a Dallas, Washington, NY Jets, Kansas City, or St Louis fan, you really cant say all that much as those teams have a big goose egg. And for the record, the Raiders only have a 3, much better than league leaders Detroit, Denver, and Philadelphia.

Punching a woman is bad. Running into a woman with your car is good.
I understand they’re different situations, but really, is there a more biased case for superstar (on his way, anyway) vs supermediocre?

After he punches a kid in the face, he’ll be demoted to flag football coach.

E-Nasty…. We do know she was punched.. 100% true!
As for C.Wilson, i would not like him coaching my son in football. In his prep speach to the kids “When you all arrive in the NFL one day, just remember to treat women like sh*t and ruin the talent that God gave you. That is what i did” Every kids parents must be so proud to have such a stand out guy coaching their children.
As for him going back to school and becoming a teacher- hysterical! just hysterical!
