CONDON DENIES HARRISON’S INVOLVEMENT IN SHOOTING

Posted by Mike Florio on 5/2/08, 10:04 p.m.

Amid reports that, at a minimum, raise serious questions about whether Colts receiver Marvin Harrison fired shots at a man outside of a bar Harrison owns in Philadelphia, Harrison’s agent, Tom Condon, denies that Harrison did anything wrong.

Marvin Harrison was not involved in any shooting.  The report is erroneous,” Condon told Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com.

Meanwhile, police said that Harrison is not a suspect.  “He was interviewed,” Lt. Frank Vanore told the Associated Press.  ”Why he was interviewed, that is all part of the investigation.  No one is a suspect.”

Still, the report that originated on WIP points a finger clearly in Harrison’s direction.  Per the report, the shooting followed an argument between Harrison and the victim at the bar, and the victim was shot while he was walking away from the establishment, with Harrison behind him.

The bullets reportedly came from a Belgian-made gun.  Harrison told police he owns such a gun, but claimed that the gun never left his house.  The gun was later found in a bucket at a car wash Harrison owns.

The gun was determined to be the same gun that fired the shots.

So flat denials don’t do it for us, not with those kinds of details.  We need specifics from Harrison or Condon before we’ll be able to believe that Harrison had no involvement whatsoever.

We’re not saying Harrison was the shooter.  But in light of the report from WIP, how can we rule him out based solely on the representations of a man who is paid to protect Harrison’s interests?

i posted up in the original report that it probably is a case he’s not the shooter; for something that seems to be so easy open and shut to not have harrison arrested, there’s probably more to this than we know. i understand skepticism regarding condon making a statement, but the counter-argument would be that if condon is full of baloney, he’d just say say something generic like we’re gathering the facts and have no comment at this time etc.

we have a wip report, but i don’t think however that we in fact have the full story.

You are a professional athlete, and your investment is a bar?

    Why?!!!

Want to make money - invest in mutual funds! Want to go crazy doubling your profits, hire a day trader! Have you not seen or heard what has happened with Adam Jones, Rae Carruth, Chris Henry, Dexter Manley, Lawrence Taylor, etc. etc.

Not everybody walks away like Ray Lewis. Marvin, you should have known better to have evn been there; it’s not like you’re 18 years old.

Allegedly in America you are innocent until proven guilty… However due to the fact that the judicial system is rotten to the core and some prosecutor will get a ‘hard-on’ thinking of prosecuting an NFL star who happens to be a solid citizen or so it seems African American… Well then we’ll see just how the system works. I hope he is not involved in this muck.

So it’s his gun, found on the scene, he lied about the presence of the gun, but he’s not involved. Jackie Chiles says he’s not involved, so he’s not involved. And O.J. is looking for the killer.

It seems like the cops are on this one. These “flat denials” do not matter. Hopefully, the truth purely comes out, then all of this brouhaha wouldn’t matter, either.

I hopeeee Marvin Harrison was just interviewed because he owned the “Playmakers” (snicker) bar or something like that.

And even though that’s the case, if it somehow turns out that it is obvious from the get go that Harrison was interviewed just for that reason … then it is irresponsible not to tell us that, as speculation can severely damage one’s reputation. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Based on what came out from before, it sounds like Harrison has a temper, so maybe it got the best of him. Let the truth set you free … or shame you.

This obviously doesn’t look good for Harrison. It sure looks like all the evidence is pointing to him. How many people do you think own a Belgium-made gun. Then Harrison lies about the gun. It doesn’t say what the two were fighting about, but Marvin needs to just be able to walk away. Now, he may end up put away for a few years. Maybe he can play on the Mean Machine with Michael Vick and Maurice Clarett.

This story began with a bang, and will end with a whimper.

I’m not saying who’s guilty, but the fuzzy details don’t say it was even Harrison’s gun. HIS car wash, HIS bar, the same gun as HIS, but they did’t say it was his.

Something fish is goning on…this will slowly fade away…

It just sounds to that not all the information is in or some of the information reported is not accurate.

Harrison argues with a guy, follows him out of the establisment, the man is shot, with Harrison’s gun, the Police question Harrison, and Harrison is NOT a suspect.

I have to BS on this one, the facts as reported CANNOT BE ACCURATE!

He whipped out his Belgian piece

Bang bang… he shot me down
Bang bang… I hit the ground
    Bang bang… that awful sound
    Bang bang… 88 shot me down…

marvin harrison has always been a stand up guy, the guy had a concieled carry permit and i’m sure theres more to this story than meets the eye.

either way, peyton has reggie, dallas, gonzalez and addai. He’ll be one up on his brother by the end of this season.

i think marvins knee deserves more media attention than an altercation with some scumbag.

Considering that this is not the first accusation of violence against Harrison and it looks like his gun was probably the gun used in the shooting, we definitely cannot take Condon at his word. Remember Michael Vick claimed he was never at his house where the dog fighting was either.

Even if Harrison didn’t do the shooting, this raises a serious issue for Roger Goodell. If Harrison didn’t pull the trigger, his involvement is similiar to Pacman Jones’ involvement in the strip club shooting. Both were apparently involved in incidences that lead up to and probably caused the shootings. Goodell may be forced to suspend Harrison anyway.

Listen sports fans, for one minute think! Marvin Harrison has always been a man who has avoided trouble his entire life. And for someone growing up in a city like Philadelphia that is hard to do, believe me.

Even after becoming a star athlete Marvin has remained low-key. If anything Marvin was just “interviewed” and is not a suspect.

If only more athletes who came from city or urban enviroments behaved like Harrison, then we would have far less Pacman’s and Chris Henry’s.

All I know is…. if he was a Bengal Goodell would have already suspended him for ATLEAST a year, even if he didn’t do it! But i’m sure since he isn’t he’ll get a slap on the wrist, guilty or not.

Now all the people around here (Cincy) can shut up with hatin on Marvin Lewis saying that, “you never see Tony Dungy’s guys in Indy getting into trouble in Indy” or “why does this stuff only happen under Marvin? you never see it in Indy under Dungy?” These are grown a$$ men, I don’t care how much a coach is respected, or how good he is, guys are going to do what they want regardless!

First: do we KNOW it’s his gun, or just the same TYPE of gun? I realize it’s not a common weapon, but still.

Second: Let’s say the lie that Marvin is telling is that the gun in question never left his house. Let’s say he keeps it at work. That doesn’t preclude anything else he’s said from being true. Another employee might have known about the gun, and grabbed it when the altercation started. Marvin’s only involvement may be getting into it with the guy inside and maybe following him out.

Third: I hate the Colts, and I think Marvin is full of crap and I hope he gets disciplined by the Commish and the local authorities.
